ADB's Work in the People's Republic of China
The PRC navigated a complex socioeconomic landscape in 2024 including challenges in the real estate market, heightened trade tensions, and severe climate-related disasters. However, robust exports and supportive monetary and fiscal policies sustained economic growth. Assistance from ADB continued to promote high-quality green growth and climate resilience, focusing on biodiversity conservation, decarbonized development, and nature-based solutions.
To date, ADB has committed 1,238 public sector loans, grants, and technical assistance totaling $45.2 billion to the PRC.

Forecasts are based on ADB's flagship publication, the Asian Development Outlook. Updated four times a year, it analyzes economic and development issues in developing countries in Asia and the Pacific.
Development indicators for the People's Republic of China, including a selection of economic, environmental, and social indicators used globally to track progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Results achieved are aggregate amounts of outputs and outcomes from operations reported in project completion reports and extended annual review reports circulated for the year.
Cofinancing operations enable ADB’s financing partners, governments or their agencies, multilateral financing institutions, and commercial organizations to participate in financing ADB projects.

Safdar Parvez is the ADB Country Director for the People's Republic of China (PRC). The PRC Resident Mission was opened in 2000 and provides the primary operational link for activities between ADB and the government, the private sector, civil society stakeholders, and development partners. The resident mission engages in policy dialogue, country partnership strategy development and programming, and portfolio management, while also acting as a knowledge base on development issues in the PRC.
The PRC government agency handling ADB affairs is the Ministry of Finance.
