What is the fund?

The fund was established in 2006 by the Republic of Korea to contribute to poverty reduction in Asia and the Pacific by improving access to information and communications technology and facilitating knowledge sharing and partnerships.

What are the priorities?

The fund covers all ADB sectors with priority on infrastructure (transportation, logistics, telecommunications, and water); information and communications technology-based smart city development; clean energy, climate change and disaster risk management, and rural development; and health (hospitals, medical systems, and bio-industry).

What kind of activities will be financed from the fund?

The fund supports ADB TAs, grants, and investments which contribute to project readiness, policy reforms, institutional capacity, and knowledge dissemination.

Who is eligible to receive the grant?

All ADB DMCs are eligible for funding. The fund supports regional and country-specific initiatives.

Who supports the fund?

With an initial contribution of $20 million, the Republic of Korea has since made annual additional contributions to the fund. Contributions over the past five years (2018-2022) total $80.79 million. Total contribution from the Republic of Korea amounts to $163.32 million by the end of 2022.
